((Hah! Snack pack. That's hilarious. Or maybe it's only funny 'cause I'm tired. ><))
Shrugging, she stuffed the sword back into its loop, slamming her hand onto the hilt in a sort of angry, yet friendly, playful bashing. "Suit yourself. I wouldn't've cared. I've got more knives and I hardly use my sword. So if you're more comfortable with one, you can use mine." Her ears perked up as he described where his valuables lay. Back at the inn, she thought, and attempted to hide her smile. She was mostly successful. "What inn were you staying at?"

Closing his eyes for a few moments, he sat there in deep thought trying to remember, "Well, all I can recall is that when I arrived, I asked around and followed directions to a rather nice inn that seemed situated in a busy district. I remember not being too pleased with the prices, however I paid extra for a little peace of mind while I established myself..." He sighed quietly, "Good thing too, everything I own is there."

She propped her hand under her chin, watching the water of the river glint in the sun. Witherheart peered blearily out from behind her hair and nibbled delicately on her earlobe. "Mmm, well, the Orderly Owl is the most expensive and cleanest in the city; it's also in the trade district: very busy." She paused, flinching as Wither nibbled too hard on her ear. And known to be the 'it' inn for the wealthy and is... well.... Well, it's a popular place for the thieves to hit, she thought, smiling slightly. Pulling him off her shoulder and onto her palm, she continued, "But there's another fairly reputable place around the corner in the same district called the White Wench's Weasel that could also be where you were."

He cringed upon hearing the name of Orderly Owl, "That's the one...the Owl. They weren't the most welcoming, not until I flashed them some coin did I get their full attention. However, as you said, it was clean, and I must admit I had quite a restful night's sleep in there." He trailed off in thought, staring in the general direction of his destination, "Well, I may not be in top form, but some ground covered is better then none at all." Slowly he got to his feet, legs still not perfectly stable, "I didn't get too many nights paid off. The sooner I'm there, the better the chance they haven't auctioned off my things" He thought.

Smiling wryly, she muttered, "With fees like theirs, you'd better get a restful night's sleep." She threw herself off the ground, threading Witherheart back up under her hair. More loudly, she said, "This river's Broad Hell's Fork. It's shallower than the next river at all times, but it's wider, too." Glancing from the river to him, she quickly ran her eyes up and down him and then back to the river, muttering, "I'm sure you'll be fine." Pulling her shoes off, she walked steadily into the waters, breathing steadily as the waters rose to her chest. She kept her shoes above her head and Wither crawled up to perch on top of her hair rather than in it, eyeing the water with beady apprehension and muttering squeakily. "Oh hush, you silly," she scolded lightly, "you're a harbor rat. You swim!" Reaching the other side, she ran her feet along the grassy embankment and sat to slide her shoes back on her small, golden feet before wringing the water out of whatever she could.

Smiled a bit, watching her cross the river. He bent down and removed his boots, having seen her cross without much trouble and ready to do so. As he stepped into the water, his smile grew as he found the water to be refreshing, almost soothing in comparison to the journey it took to get here, "Well, I'm just lucky I was spared the injuries I'm sure they were planning for me, other wise this would be a much more complicated matter." He said loudly, stepping into the grass on the other side, and taking a quick seat to put his boots back on.

Patting herself, she shrugged lightly, assuming herself as dry as she could be and figuring it didn't really matter since she'd just be crossing another river later. She leaped up, taking a few quick steps around him to make sure her shoes were comfortable. "You know," she said, standing behind him and looking up at the sun, "you never told me your name." Spinning around, she put her hands moodily on her hips, one hand resting lightly next to her sword's grip and the other on the rim of her brown leather belt. "If we're going to be walking around together, I at least want to know your name."

Stands up slowly, shaking off water he could from his body, "Well, it never occurred to me to introduce myself. That's rude on my part, and I apologize. Call me Diego." he gave her a smile as he spoke, turning to focus his attention on direction they would be heading soon. He took in a deep breath and turned his attention back to her, "And what shall I know you as, Besides the guide with a pet rat?"

She turned quickly, walking away from him toward the east. The green grasses spread out before them as they walked, waving in a breeze that was cooling slowly as the sun ran its course through the sky. It was not setting yet, but it was at that point where the light turned the air to gold. As she stepped lightly over the land before him, she seemed to shine. "What, 'Guide-With-A-Pet-Rat' too long for you to scream?" Stroking Witherheart's black head, she smirked at the sun. "I suppose... I suppose you could call me Aijari--" Witherheart squeaked loudly, biting her on the ear. She grabbed him by the muzzle and tucked him under her arm. "Yes," she said firmly, "you can call me Aijari." She seemed slightly uncertain as she began, but once decided, she spoke strongly and with conviction, however she declined to turn to him at all but kept her face turned from him.

He followed her lead, walking at a moderate pace, enjoying the breeze with a smile, "Well, Aijari, it is nice to meet you, and I appreciate your help. I can't remember the last time I met a helpful stranger." He took notice to her speaking away from him, and shrugged to himself, instead admiring the landscape now as its view was slowly changing with the sun soon approaching its descent. "Aijari and Witherheart" he thought to himself, making a note of the names so as not to forget, "I half expected ignorance on your part to be quite honest. Not meaning to offend, but as you may have gathered I haven't had the warmest of welcomes in these lands. Though to be fair, I only met an innkeeper and deceptive criminals, so I can't exactly cast my judgement just yet"

"Hmmm," Aijari muttered, tapping Wither hard on the nose and between the eyes and put him back on her shoulder. He nosed around, muttering squeakily in a disgruntled sort of way. "Well, not everyone in the Isles are backstabbing, or...." She stopped short in her words and fell silent, looking distractedly at her feet. "Mmm, yes. There are goodhearted people in the Isles."

"That would be my hope, and as far as I am concerned you certainly help to validate that statement." He said with certainty, his steps becoming a little more confident and well paced. He glanced at the sun every so often, trying to measure just how much daylight remained for them on their journey, "If anything, I have myself to blame for getting myself into this situation. Should have paid more attention..." his words sounded irritated.

His words seemed to puzzle her into silence for a few minutes, and she inspected her feet while she walked. Yes, she thought, yes, you should have. Bandits are never as silent as they tell everyone they are. They always make a mistake. Why, they made a mistake in even robbing him--couldn't they see he didn't have any of his stuff on him? She shook her head. Stupids. "I'm sure there was nothing you could have done about it," she said a little mechanically. That's what I should say, right? She shrugged.

"There was plenty, I think. I mean, the reward seemed too good for something as simple as escorting someone to their destination. Not only that, but, I had a strange feeling about the request to begin with." He sighed deeply, "I needed coin, though. I spent much of what I had saved to get my stay at the inn, and I wasn't sure how to go about.." He stopped his words, "I need to think clearly...I can't just tell everything to someone I just met!" With a quick shake of the head he continued, "err, how to go about getting steady work." He looked out to the horizon in thought after a few moments.

Is that what you were doing all the way out there? Escorting someone? Someone with a purpose, a destination, a point so important that they needed a body guard. Someone with coin. "You seem to be getting some memory back," she remarked idly. "Can you remember who you were escorting?"
