He nodded in agreement, "Indeed it was. These were given to me by a good friend before...." he paused for a moment, thinking to himself, "Having to leave for the Isles. We used to play Liar all the time....well, at least when time permitted. Which wasn't often." He pulled one of the die out and examined it, "I figured not many people know who to play this here, so I have them more for sentimental value then anything." He put both the die then the bag back into the pouch and sighed a bit, "Simpler times, that's for sure. Part of me wishes I hadn't come here."

She cocked her head a little out of curiosity, watching him and his face, illuminated in the dimness by the fire. Her eyes glittered. "Where did you come from?" she asked curiously.

He thought for a few moments, quietly flashing a smile her way, and spoke slowly, "Well, lets see, The best way I can describe it is a continent down to the south west of the Isles. It is quite a ways out, far enough that the ship I caught to get here was the first in quite some time. If I remember correctly, It goes to Wing-Over-Sea for very specific trades. I don't know what, but it makes the journey." He shrugged a bit and laughed, "Now, don't ask me why I came here, because that is a far more complicated answer." He tossed in a bit more wood to the fire, watching it crack and rise as it fed. His face turned a bit stoic in the face of the flames, his head lost in thought before he pulled himself back into reality, "I suppose that makes me a clueless foreigner.

She continued to watch him, though not really taking him in at all, and let a few moments rise with the fire in crackling silence before turning her face to the warmth and muttering, "I've never been out of the Isles. Hells," she said, rousing herself a little to shift her legs, "I've not been above Goldendown. I keep meaning to hop a ship and go someplace, but the ships don't like to take passengers back. I've never met any Islander who went to Old Home and back. I don't think they take anyone back. You can come to the fantastic scenery and weather that is the Auburn Isles, but it's hell to get off." She sighed and offered her hand to Wither who scampered on and curled up contentedly.

He shrugged slightly, staring into the fire for a few moments, "Well, I think at this point I'd prefer that. Don't get me wrong, I am not exactly grateful for what has happened to me, but that very reason is why I came specifically to the Isles. The ships back home do a lot of trade else where, to the east and south, regularly enough that familiar faces would easily catch up to me. No offense to them, but I'd rather they didn't." He sighed a bit, stretching his body out, stopping when all his joints were sufficiently popped, "That does sound somewhat sour of me, but really, it is all for the best."

"Have you got enemies where you're from? I suppose we all do, somewhere, some of us more than others," she said, flopping backwards in the grass, tucking Witherheart under her chin, her arms behind her head, feet toward the fire, gazing up to the stars.

"Hmm. Well, yes and no. Actually not really, my choice to come here was more related to boredom than anything else. I have done many things back in my homeland. I wanted to do more, so I came here." He also turned his eyes upward to gaze at the stars, watching them with a smile, "Funny, the stars never really change, no matter where I go."

"Hopefully the Isles don't disappoint you in your...mmmm, quest to do something new. Don't get me wrong, I mean, we've got our issues, but we're probably just as terribly boring as where you were." She paused, listening to him and watching the sky. "They have the same stars where you're from?" she asked curiously. "The Lamb and the Wolf? The Spearman," she named, pointing between star clusters, "the Archer. Did they have Trirri the Demoness and Droala the Angel, too?"

He laughed a bit, "I meant more, that no matter where I've been, the stars never change. Maybe they change positions, for instance, back home" he pointed upward at groups of stars, "The bear and her cub were much closer this way. And those, the Seven Fangs, were a little more above us than now. And I do not see the Old One anywhere." his eyes scanned the stars for a few moments more, before smirking and pointing at one particularly bright star, "That's the Ancient King, Dorado. During his reign they discovered the mines. Other then that...well, I wasn't too caught up in history. From what some of the older folk told us, he had a large ego, hence that star being his." He laughed some more.

"The Ancient King Dorado?" she repeated almost indignantly. "He would have to have a large ego if he claimed that star--that's the Eye of Yala, one of the Eight of the Old Elves!" She laughed. "I didn't know it went by any other name. But I suppose if you didn't have the Eight of the Old Elves you wouldn't have any belief in Yala or the other Seven and therefore it couldn't be her Eye. Hm. I never thought about that before."

He nodded, "That is the way I've discovered it to be. Some places do share common beliefs with each other, but then you'll have lands that did not share their culture quite as well, such as my home." He looked at the stars once more, before settling his eyes on the land before them, "I always did enjoy learning about the beliefs of others. Helps me to learn about them, make sense of what it is they do."

She sighed, considering the stars. Witherheart slid down her side onto the grass and crept across to the empty leaves, sniffing curiously. Snorting at finding nothing, he sneaked over to Diego and sniffed at him, his beady eyes inspecting him closely. He seemed most interested in the bags at his belt and how they were affixed. However, as he began to act as though he might nibble through them, Aijari calmly and without attracting attention swiped him up, striking him on the nose with one finger as though in admonition. "Are there many things we do here that you didn't? Or have you not been here long enough to really tell?"

Diego watched the rat the entire time, smiling as it approached him, and laughed a bit as he watched her scoop Witherheart up, "Well, I haven't been here long enough. I can tell you there are thieves and brigands just the same as back home. Though I expect that of any land, to have its share..." He stretched a bit, laying down on his back and closing his eyes, "The port cities seem very similar, the lands here are a bit colder, though. It has been awhile since I've been home, so I'm not too sure on that. Of course, I am sure there are many things here that set the Isles apart from all other places."

"Hmm," she murmured, laying Wither atop her stomach, "if you think here is cold, you should see the northern reaches of the Isles--they're snowlocked all year. That's cold. Though I do have a friend who lives there who says you get used to it and it's not as cold as we imagine it is. I suppose that must be true since there are people who live there." The fire was dimming and the two moons seemed brighter than it. She sighed deeply, looking to one side, into the trees and toward the river. "I don't think we need to have a watch tonight. Not much comes by here other than deer. The thieves and bandits mostly stay in the city when it's just right there," she waved in the vague direction of Wildford and Wing-over-Sea.

"Well, that is comforting. Hopefully it makes for a decent night's rest. Though if you don't mind, I'll keep a light watch, even if for just a shot time. The last time I slept soundly was right before I woke up with my things missing. Better to be cautious now, than not." He yawned a bit, covering his mouth as he did so, smiling as he looked to the river, "Besides, I think I could use some time to think quietly. Once I get back to the city, I have to start all over again. Figure out what exactly I'll be doing in these lands."
